Drake. Where was he now? Footsteps echoed. Measured and unhurried. I didn’t look up immediately. I waited, counted the steps, and noted the rhythm. No rush or hesitation. Whoever was walking toward me felt completely in control of the space. Well they were. “Good,” Drake said mildly. “You’re awake.” I lifted my head then. He stood a few feet away, sleeves rolled up, jacket gone, hair slightly disheveled, not from struggle, but from comfort. Like someone settling into a long evening.

"I think we should call it a day," Mac stated, looking at me. Cindy frowned at Mac's words.

Drake stood over the last one, chest rising and falling hard, the silver cut on his shoulder already knitting shut in a way no normal wolf’s would. A wet cough broke the quiet. One of the scouts, the one Drake had thrown into the pillar, was still breathing. He dragged himself toward the open doors on his elbows, leaving a smear of red behind him. His broken leg trailed at a wrong angle. He did not look back. He just kept crawling, breath hitching, until he reached the threshold. Drake started after him and stopped short as if he had walked into a wall. His hand flexed in the air. The curse held.

I then looked at him ,I was clearly embarrassed .I tried getting up ,but before I could drake held my hips and would not let go .He was smiling creepily staring at my chest area. I looked down and realized what he was seeing and then struggled under his gasp to run away .I lightly pinched his wound and that did the trick .I escaped .

Drake sat next to his girl's bed and just held her hand. When Vulcan walked in to the ICU and saw his Prez and friend looking so defeated, it damn near broke his heart. His friend had always been a strong guy. He had held up the entire club at times. He was responsible for the rescue of many battered women and children. He was also the man that held them together.
