The Dragon's Silent Shadow
Blown inward by the pressure differential.
"Subtle," Saoirse coughed, waving away the fog.
"Effective," Tristan corrected, standing up.
They walked through the twisted wreckage of the doorframe and into the Drill Chamber.
And stopped.
The room was a cathedral of ice and green light.
In the center, suspended over a bottomless pit that glowed with a sickening, verdant radiation, was the Drill.
It was the size of a skyscraper. A massive, rotating spire of black crystal and iron, humming with a sound that vibrated the soul. It wasn't drilling into rock. It was drilling into light.
