chapter one Bad- the world had turned bad. Over the last couple of years there has been nothing but chaos. Unknown beings have infiltrate part of our world; mass hysteria, robberies, murders have tripled over the years. Innocent people are dying either out of starvation or their untimely and unwanted death. They- the military- the people that are supposed to protect us order us when to stay inside our homes and when it's safe to leave. But one thing is for sure after nine o'clock no one is supposed to leave, if you do and you get seen, it either you're punished or killed on the spot. Our government was meant to protect us, yet we were the ones that lived in fear of them.

Rot, rust, decay, decomposition, corruption. These words mean a lot, in a society where nothing works for the common man, but everything works for the men at the top. A society where the men who make the laws are the first to break them, a society where honesty is so scarce, men tend to rot in their core which in turn leads to the whole society and everything in it rotting, crumbling, decaying, withering, worsening, deteriorating, and descending back to their basic and cruel nature, survival of the fittest. The futile race to get to the top where things work would be so important that they would not mind who gets hurt in the process.

One of those rules was that all the gods weren’t allowed to enter this world and intervened in the Game. “Just imagine, for two thousand years, we created a thriving society with the knowledge we brought from our world and the powers granted to us by the gods. With no one to boss us around, we can do almost anything. Think about it. No more adults, no more schools, no more government, wars, pollution, and all the crappy stuff back home.” Rad was right. I thought of Dalsa too and hoped that she was making progress on her journey, better than we were. I wished I could reach out to her but there was no way to. Our society wasn't like the utopia town. The world of the supernatural wasn't built like theirs and I guessed it was because they were mostly humans and didn't have abilities like we did. The utopia town was a modern world with skyscrapers and fascinating technology. I wished I had some of that so I could reach out to Dalsa. There was a gadget the count used to put into his ears to back orders at people who were not near him. I was amazed and impressed when I saw that.

Mismanagement led to disaster, decimating the population and leaving a mere 1% of humanity clinging to survival. Life became harsh, and people struggled to live, resembling scenes from a "Mad Max" movie or "The Book of Eli." Trudging across the dry, barren land, I felt the oppressive heat, unsuitable for cultivating anything. Merely minutes in the open, my skin felt like it was scorching.
