ECHOES OF THE PAST

ECHOES OF THE PAST

I'm just doing this for old time sake so your heart won't shatter when I finally break it. Then he smiled. You like it? He asked. Oh yes, I do. I responded with a fake smile too. Why won't you like it? You've always liked anything I give you. He said in his mind. Yes I do, I have always liked anything you give me. I said. He look shocked. What is wrong with her? Did she just read my mind? No, it's not possible. It's just a coincidence. He said in his mind. I went upstairs and picked a book to read as I sat on the couch.

The Bookstore Temptation

The Bookstore Temptation

But she… didn’t flinch. Lena walked over to a little table display and picked up a thin, cloth-bound book. She walked over to him, holding it out like an offering. *The Quiet Between Lightning Strikes.* A poetry book. The cover was old and nubbly, the title scribbled in fine silver ink. Julian stared at it like it was an alien thing. "What's this?" "A book," she said, smiling. "I told you. I don't—"

The Perfect Revenge Of The Luna Queen

The Perfect Revenge Of The Luna Queen

Finally, she stopped at a section of old herbalism texts, many of them so worn that their covers had faded to ghostly shades of green and brown. “Here,” she said, pulling down three heavy volumes and carrying them to a table near the far window. Dust floated in the golden beams of light that spilled in from the glass above. “These are the most likely to have what you need. But be careful, some of these methods are outdated, and some are very dangerous.” Ryker and I sat opposite each other, the books spread between us like treasure maps. The clock on the wall ticked quietly, marking the passing minutes. Outside, I could hear the faint sound of rain beginning to fall against the library roof.

MATED TO THE ROUGE ALPHA

MATED TO THE ROUGE ALPHA

She moved deeper into the library, toward the older shelves at the very back where the books looked like they had not been touched in years. And then she saw it. It was a large book, wider than her arm's length and bound in something dark that looked like old leather. The writing on the spine was faded, the letters curled in an ancient style she almost could not read. But she made out two words clearly enough. Pack Origins. She pulled it from the shelf carefully, the way one would handle something that might fall apart if handled wrong. She carried it to the small reading table in the corner and set it down. The wood groaned under its weight.

I turn my attention to the book and flip it open. It isn’t new. Not even close. The edges of the pages are soft and worn to a suede-like texture, yellowed by time. The ink is slightly faded, turning a brownish hue in some places. Inside are entries. Dates. Notes written in a careful, elegant handwriting that makes my heart stop. I flip through the pages slowly, my eyes widening with every line I read. “These look old, Soren,” I say quietly, the weight of the book suddenly feeling much heavier.

Accidental Surrogate for Alpha

I cough when it raises a puff of dust into the air on its way. “I gave you all the ones with more pictures,” Roger murmurs, closing his book and reaching for his next as well. “Wanted to make it easy on you.” My mouth drops open in a little outrage at his implication there but then I see the upturned corner of his lip. “Liar,” I say, smiling down at my book as I open the cover. The title page reads A Complete History of the Cults of the Dark God, 1862. “You just didn’t want to get your hands and clothes dusty touching all these old ones.” Passively, I gesture to my clothes – which are indeed covered in a light layer of grey library dust.

I love this book! I hate that chapters are barely two pages and at this rate I’m probably not going to see the end. For the cost at this rate I could have bought quite a number in physical form. As I have so far spent just under of $100 this is most likely my last Good Novel purchase.

The Darkside of the Moon

The Darkside of the Moon

And the book… the book calls to her, whispers to her, its voice a seductive murmur in the back of her mind. With a deep breath, Demika opens the book. The pages are yellowed with age, the ink faded but still legible. The writing is in an ancient script, one that she has only seen in the oldest of the Wiccan texts. But as she scans the pages, the words seem to rearrange themselves before her eyes, transforming into a language she can understand.

Revenge Of The Scarred Billionairess

Revenge Of The Scarred Billionairess

Some old collections rich people used to show off to their fellow rich people There was a large desk in the corner with an antique-looking lamp on top, the bulb seemed to be lit but not on, there were strange-looking books, some with leather covers, others paper, some old, some brand new with pages that fell open and wrinkled under my fingers. There were even some books with gold writing on the cover but none of them looked like they were readable, I picked up the nearest one, it was titled in Latin. Opening the book carefully, the first page was blank except for two black lines that started from the middle of it, it looked like someone had drawn something underneath them. They weren't words

His Regret, The Crown's Claim

His Regret, The Crown's Claim

The mark on my neck hummed in my chest, responding to the object as if it were a long-lost limb. "You," I whispered. I reached into the darkness and pulled out an old, worn book. It was small, no larger than a diary, and it had no title on the spine. The cover was a mottled, grayish-brown, and it felt heavy, as if it were weighted with lead or ancient secrets.

Betrothed To Six Lovers

Betrothed To Six Lovers

Pieces of a life that felt both mine and not mine at the same time. Jewelry glinted softly in the dim light—gold, silver, stones set in intricate designs that spoke of power and legacy. Seals rested neatly in velvet-lined compartments. And beneath them— Albums. My chest tightened. I reached in slowly, my fingers brushing against the edges of the books before settling on one. The oldest. The one I hadn’t opened in a long time. The leather cover was worn slightly at the edges, softened by time and touch. My breath caught.

Why would she suffer the desires of all these men. I really hope Lila Voss discovers herself that they truly do not love her, I hope she finds herself and conquers their dark secrets and such an evil plotting step mother and her deadly curse. She truly deserves victory to be queen.
Collins Piate
What a beautifully crafted story, it looks so real. The plot is great. I thought it was only men that get robbed of love by several lovers. But, I like her spirit in the end, despite her loss. She stood her place to start life afresh regardless. This is a must read, read to the end you will love it.
