“Watch your tone, Elara.” So this was her. The former mate candidate. She looked me over like a stain she wanted scrubbed from the floor. “She’s an Omega,” Elara continued. “Untrained. Volatile. And now responsible for a pack death.” “She defended herself,” Ronan growled. “Against a seasoned warrior?” Elara scoffed. “Either she’s lying… or she’s far more dangerous than you admit.” Her gaze flicked to me, lips curling. “Which is it, little Omega?”

"If my eyes go completely blue, you put a round through my brainstem. You don't hesitate. You don't try to talk to it. You end it." Elara stared at the weapon in her hand. It felt impossibly heavy. The thought of pointing it at the man she loved, the man who was currently enduring hell to keep her alive, made her physically nauseous. She looked into his eyes, seeing the desperate pleading of the man she knew, trapped behind the glowing perimeter of a digital god. "I promise," she lied, her voice breaking. She holstered the weapon at her side. "Now get up. We have twenty decks to climb."

She climbed with impossible speed, her body fueled by a divine adrenaline. ​"Get away from him!" Elara roared as she vaulted over the ledge, landing on the roof. ​Seraphina gasped, her purple eyes wide with terror. "How? You're an Omega! You’re nothing!" ​"I am the Luna of the Black Winter," Elara hissed, her voice echoing with the power of a thousand ancestors. "And you are in my way." ​Seraphina shrieked and lunged, the silver dagger aimed at Elara’s heart. But Elara didn't dodge. She caught Seraphina’s wrist in mid-air, the strength in her grip shattering the woman’s bones instantly. The dagger clattered to the roof.

And in return, Selene had smiled as she watched her crumble. Elara stepped back inside, locking the balcony doors behind her. She placed the fox safely on the shelf above her bed, right next to the photo of her parents. Then she walked to her desk and opened her journal. She turned to the first page and wrote in bold, careful strokes: "Trust no one but those who stood by me." Then she flipped to the next page and began to list names: Damien Blackwood – Greedy. Calculated. After the Voss name…not me.

Ela’s pov “No, but mom, I am working as a lawyer for Alpha Osiris.” “Yes, the one who opened his pack to half bloods and humans.” “No, he is really nice.” “No, dad. No. Dad. A pulse of Rejection-Code slammed into him, throwing the blue-fire wolf across the room. He hit a data-shelf, sending a shower of "Deleted-Memories" fluttering to the floor like dead leaves.
