CHAPTER THREE Elena's POV 'But I believe he'll be better than Logan's’ Ivana said, defending the stranger. 'Now you're just being selfish Ivana, don't you even care about how I'm feeling?. I haven't fully recovered from Logan and Lisa's betrayal and now you want me to get tied to someone else?' I retorted. 'He's our mate Elena' 'And I don't care. And I won't act like I can feel the bond, so you better behave Ivana' I retorted.

“Julian’s not the only one who wants you watched. He’s just one player in a bigger game.” I felt my legs go weak. “You were watching me this whole time?” “I was protecting a promise,” she whispered. “One I made long before I ever met you.” “To who?” Adrian asked. She looked at him. And I will never forget the way her voice dropped when she said: “To your brother.” Silence exploded in the room. Adrian’s face drained of color. “My brother’s dead,” he said. Elena tilted her head. “Is he?” The entire room shifted. It was like the world tilted slightly, and suddenly nothing made sense anymore.

I prompted Emily. "I came across Elena in the Prancing Pony Inn, an inn situated on the wastelands," Emily replied. "She was with her brother Axel." She said. I frowned. "Axel?" I asked. "Elena has a brother?" I had never heard of this Axel that Emily spoke about, but my sharp senses assumed that there was nothing good about this Axel based on the way Emily spoke about him. Emily nodded again. "Elena has a brother, Axel Nightshade. Axel is a rogue werewolf and a maniac. He was banished from the werewolf community because he's a serial killer." Emily explained.

“Did you just—” “Yes, I did!” Vanessa cut him off. “You better stay away from my sister, or next time, it won’t be just an ice cream!” As the white liquid slid down his suit and onto the floor, Louis was so angry that he laughed. “Vanessa Walker, are you always this violent, or do I bring out something special in you? From which eye of yours did you see me bullying her?” Elena pinched the bridge of her nose as she felt a headache coming on. “Vanessa, it’s not—”

I shut my eyes, goosebumps creeping up on me. “I… I killed him.” The words fell out of my lips in a broken whisper. " You did what?” Conner thundered in the car. I flinched. “Elena, what the fuck? What the fuck?" My legs began trembling all over again. “I saw my brother's pendant with him, and I lost it. I had to, I had to take my revenge." I muttered, almost to myself.

Selena, who’d been circling Kael like a vulture. That night, after the confrontation, Elara came to my chambers. Kael and Damon were already there, waiting. We didn’t speak much at first. She just walked into the center of us and let us surround her. Kael kissed her first, slow and desperate, like he was apologizing for Selena’s poison.

Redemption attempted too late to matter but offered anyway. "Is there anything else you need?" I ask. "Elena. I need to talk to Elena. Before I go." I stand. "I'll get her." --- Elena doesn't want to come. I find her in the kitchen with Diane. Drinking tea. Eyes red like she's been crying. "He wants to see you," I say. "I don't want to see him." "I know.
