Do you even know who I am?” Beside me, Zoe muttered under her breath, but I caught it. “Who is he?” Levi answered, his voice low. “Elijah is in the mafia.” Zoe blinked. “Oh… him? He doesn’t really look like it.” Levi shook his head. “Don’t be delusional. They’re all dangerous. Asher is the worst, he can kill with anything within reach. Mateo, he’s not here, but he’s an expert with guns. And then there’s Elijah, a hacker who can break into anything in the world.”

“Both. For the Saitos, for Mother, for us. For every night we spent dreaming about a man who never came.” For a long moment, the room was silent except for the hum of the screens. Then Elijah spoke again, his tone dropping lower. “You know what’s strange? I used to think revenge would make me feel alive. But working with Jay…” he trailed off, shaking his head. “He wasn’t like Richard. He was kind. Curious. Smart.” Gabriel’s gaze darkened. “Don’t tell me you’ve gone soft.” Elijah met his brother’s glare, unflinching. “No,” he said quietly. “I’m just wondering if we’re punishing the wrong Hales.”

But the reason Elijah singled him out wasn't because he did a lot of bad things. After all, they were Ancient Ferocious Beasts, and Chaos didn't really care about people. Elijah didn't have much of a sense of good or evil, either. He was like that when he was human too, otherwise he wouldn't have almost been wanted worldwide when he was a hacker. Was just a kid at heart, only cared about the people I cared about. As for the rest, if it wasn't for Amelia, Elijah wouldn't care and wouldn't look. The one who picked him up from the trash and beat him into submission was Amelia, and the one who told him to wash his hands before eating was also Amelia.

He cries as he kneels down before me. "Cassie, I don't even know where to start apologizing. I mean, I rejected you, hated you, maltreated you for nothing! All because I refused to reason! Ahhh!!" He cries and I urge him to get on his feet. "Elijah" I call as I stand before him and look up into his beautiful eyes. "My father was a bad man and he raised me, it's only normal that you thought I was a bad person as well. I would have thought the same. So stop lamenting"

Even when she was sick, she did not want to go and ask for medicines. However, they were patient with her. Thinking about all this, Elaine smiled, feeling all bubbly and warm inside. “They are like my own family,” she smiled. Micjahle looked at her and smiled, he too was once like her. When his parents died and his grand father tried to cut him off from the world, he became an introverted nerd. He was cold to people and emotions.

Eli smirked still day dreaming about her. “What he means is that she possesses masculine traits like persuasive, strategic, ambitious, intimidating and all the whatnot.” Josiah corrects Eli with an eyeroll. Not a bad assessment though. He has always been the smartest of the group but unfortunately in his case his own came with anti-social tendencies. He lacks the ability to socialize outside his tight knit circle. Well versed in technology but zero emphasis on interpersonal connections. “Okay I mean she has these ruthless killer instincts beneath those cute little dimples and that curly hair she flaunts. She’s my soulmate but I can’t prove that yet.”
