They only open at night, but they smell nice even in the day.”

Her silence was like misery to the ladies, and they struggled for what to say. After some seconds, Andrea flew up and tapped Anita's shoulder. Only one single object glimmered in the dark sky and it was the moon. But the moon wasn't silver colored as usual. It was deep red, so deep and bright that it only seemed like a living blood. What was happening? It was still early in the afternoon and yet the sky had closed it's curtains. The only reason for a blood moon to appear in the Crescent Pack was only if the two sacred fishes placed in the Pack's Ephesus had been tampered with but they no longer exist since the attack of the Nightshade warriors and I now took their place which automatically made the strength of Crescent Pack which was a secret only I and Lucius knew about.

Fifteen pairs of eyes, some brown, some blue, some green, but all with that same bright intensity, turned to assess Emma. She felt like prey being evaluated by predators. The words hung in the air like a challenge. A tall woman with silver hair and sharp cheekbones stood up from the couch. She looked like she was in her fifties, but moved with the grace of someone much younger.

**** Pov: Lupa. The forest is heavy with mist, the full moon cutting through the haze like a blade. I kneel on the damp earth, my knees sinking into moss, hands pressed to the ground as I whisper prayers to the Moon Goddess. It’s been years since I’ve felt her call this strong, a pull in my bones that drags me from my bed in the Nightshade compound. My silver hair hangs loose, catching the moonlight, and my breath steadies as I offer my heart to her guidance. Ember, our Luna, is fierce but young, and with Rowan and Caelen in her care, I need wisdom to steer her right.
