In Love With My Enemy
My breath caught as the legs of my chair scraped softly against the polished floor, the sound echoing in my ears as my body froze.
I screamed internally, panic and something else—something dangerous, coursing through me as I found myself inches away from him. His heat enveloped me, his scent—clean and woodsy—making it impossible to think straight.
“Yes,” he said again, his voice quieter now, but no less firm. “It’s in your contract. So…” His eyes bore into mine as his hand slid to the small of my back, his fingers drawing slow, deliberate circles on my bare skin. “Be sweet. Loving. Flirty. Convince him you’re completely devoted.”
