Even The Villain Is Annoying Novels & Stories

Because this was New York, and they knew better than to get involved. I stared down at John’s unconscious body, rubbing my temples. “Jesus Christ, Rob.” Rob shrugged, rolling his shoulders like he hadn’t just knocked a man out cold. I turned and gave him the filthiest glare I could muster. “Do you have any idea how annoying you are?”

I tell him with a smile. “Oh, then I’ll make sure I’m the last one too,” he mutters, making me laugh. “What?” he asks. “You know, I wonder how the other mafia men would react if they saw someone they believe to be one of the most dangerous men in their ranks acting like a true gentleman for an ordinary woman. It would be surprising for them to see such a tough character showing kindness and respect, especially in the world they live in,” I giggle. He lifts his head from my lap and looks deep into my eyes.

"Why are you trying to comfort me? If my powers return, Natasha's crew is the first people I will murder. You and I aren't friends, even if you feed me." There is laughter. "You're so mean." I narrow my eyes further. "Well, I'm the villain—I'm not supposed to be friendly, especially not toward you." "I haven't done you anything," the man still sounds amused. He sounds like a total prankster, the guy whose job is to make everyone around him laugh and smile. "So please spare me—I'm too young to die." I lift my nose into the air, sneezing. "Hmph! I won't spare anyone!"

But it came out lukewarm, like even she didn't believe it. "Yeah, well, he's not sincerely obsessed like Victor." I rolled my eyes. "It's kind of annoying how hot and deranged Victor is. Like... a serial killer Disney prince." Anne blinked slowly. "I don't need his sincerity. I need him." Ugh. Weirdo.

A literal rubber Arianna face like I was watching Scooby-Doo. I didn’t expect that. I snapped the phone shut like it burned. “Fuck you, author,” I hissed. “What kind of deranged W*****d-N*****x crossover is this? How can the villain be as smart as the main character? Make it make sense!” I paced in tight circles around Arianna’s ridiculously glossy bedroom, still fuming. “She wore a mask,” I said again, louder this time. “This bitch wore a mask. Who does that? Scooby-Doo villains? Halloween drag queens? A psychopath villain?

“I’m not a hero.” “I’m the villain remember,” he reminded me with a grin. “All good villains know how to identify heroes.” He turned his attention to the vine, and the plant pulled back, the vines withering, the flowers and leaves falling, until there was nothing but the faintest shadow on the stone to indicate that it had ever existed at all.

I spoke until my mouth hurt but his only response was that I was interesting? So what do I say to that? Most importantly, how do I convince him to keep my secret? Fuck, I'm so terrible at mind games. Why'd they make me a villain when I'm this dumb? A side character or a nameless extra would have made more sense. This was just so fucking ridiculous. I felt annoyed.
