CHAPTER SEVENTEEN: Azrael's POV: “Nope,” Caspian snorted. “You just want to get her under you so bad.” I pinched the bridge of my nose, taking a deep breath before I lost it and forgot he was my best friend. Minutes—literal ‘minutes’—I'd spent explaining the mysteries surrounding Saphielle and this was his takeaway? He was a 500-year-old vampire, for fuck's sake. He couldn't be that dense.

A server brought a crystal decanter. Inside swirled a golden-red liquid—“Artist’s Blood.” Harvested from mortals with sublime creative inspiration, it induced a powerful psychic euphoria in vampires. “This is for you two.” Caius poured most of it into Evangeline’s glass, leaving me with just a swallow at the bottom. “Evangeline’s been on edge lately. She needs this.” Evangeline lifted her glass, her eyes hazy as she stared at Caius. She licked the rim of her cup.

She watched him intently reading her schedule. “Go back to your classes. I'll see you later mate," he said and gave her the schedule back. He disappeared into the thin air leaving Cassandra all by himself. “That fvcker,” she cursed under her breath and stomped her feet. She breathed deeply and looked at the ceiling, realizing something. Her mate is no other than Sebastian Alistair Blood and worst of all he is the vampire prince. Cassandra doesn’t know if it’s possible to be mates with a vampire. Cassandra was lost in her thoughts. She heaved a sigh and left the room. She went back to her classes as the break was finally over.

I twisted my hands in my lap. “I did,” I admitted. “For a long time, I played the part of Damon Voss’s girlfriend, but it was fake.
