I sighed, adjusting the furball in my arms, still unsure. I was this close to saying no, but Trixie was looking at me with those big, pleading eyes, practically daring me to refuse. And let’s face it—Mr. Muffels did look pretty cute, for a cat.
“Fine,” I finally agreed, trying to sound reluctant. “But you owe me. Big time. I’m talking coffee runs for a month or something serious like that.”
Her face lit up, and she let out a happy squeal, leaning in to give me a quick hug, careful not to squish Mr. Muffels. “Thank you, thank you! You’re seriously the best. I’ll totally make it up to you.”
