Unspoken Promises
By the time I finish, Gabby’s eyes are misty.
“Damian,” she says softly, “can I ask you one thing? If I like your answer, I’ll help you.” She folds her hands. “Why Sareena? You barely know her. She’s so much younger than you and she’s not a socialite. You’ve only ever been seen with beauty queens, trust fund Barbies, or models.”
She’s not trying to be cruel; she’s protecting her friend, and she needs to know this isn’t some passing obsession.
