I let Tommy win and we had another drink, fortunately Mark wasn't paying attention at the moment. Tommy was a sophomore at PC and was majoring in business. His father owned a distribution company in Providence that he was hoping to take over someday. I told him about my painting and as I talked he seemed genuinely interested, asking questions about my influences as apparently his mother was a collector. As we spoke I had mixed feelings. On one hand Tommy was cute and certainly interested. He seemed down to earth and not stuck on himself and I could definitely see myself going out with him.

Tom waved his hands coolly, sizing James up as he spoke. Suddenly, his gaze froze at the thought of something. He pointed at James and asked, "Summie, why do I feel like your husband is familiar?" "Familiar?" Summer didn't know why Tom was asking that. "Yes, he looks familiar. I think I've seen him somewhere," Tom explained as he continued thinking. There was a blurry shadow in his mind, but he managed to make out the image the harder he thought. He clapped his hands and exclaimed, "I remember it now. He looks like the president of Quigley Group!"

“My father is in isolation training now, and he doesn’t want to be disturbed. He’s going to be a peak-stage master-level fighter when he has completed the training!” Upon saying that, Tyler ignored the middle-aged man, pulled out his phone, and dialed a number. Tyler asked, “Are you free, Fuller?” The person known as Fuller said, “Yes, I am. What’s going on, Hann?” Tyler heaved a sigh and said, “Do you know that I have a master-level fighter as my bodyguard? His name is Ricky Lee, and someone has murdered him. I would like to seek your help, Fuller.” Fuller exclaimed, “Huh? You may seek revenge if you want. Why are you asking for my help then?”

I could keep myself safe, but what would I say to Rick if something happened to his son? Tommy was a great guy. He was almost seven feet tall, his dirty blond hair always disheveled, his brown eyes ever cheerful, his smile wide. And he was always ready to come to anybody’s aid. We fought and made peace, trained and ran away to the mountains... So many adventures, so much fun, so much laughter.

Just stared out at the water, the sunlight glinting off the surface, mirroring the turmoil in his eyes. “I’m alright,” he said eventually. “As alright as I can be when my dad’s in a hospital bed hooked up to more wires than a damn Christmas tree.” I nodded. “Tommy’s strong.” “He better be,” Donny muttered, voice quiet. “That man once punched a guy for putting ketchup on steak. I know he’s too stubborn to die.” I laughed—couldn’t help it. The image of Tommy, red-faced and righteous, defending the sanctity of a properly cooked steak was vivid in my mind. “Yeah, sounds like him.”
