“My friend can’t stop talking about you.” Sasha rolled his eyes, laughing. Further back, the Kovalenkos emerged like a front of ice. Fidor, with his usual elegance, tilted his head toward Dmitry and then toward Susan. “Dmitry. Susan. May the night find you prepared.” But Nikita could not contain his venom: “Showing off your witch as a trophy, Dmitry? Brave… or simply an idiot?” Before Dmitry could respond, Fidor slowly turned to his son. “Nikita. Shut your mouth.”

Isabella would occasionally pass by to check whether or not I was dead, I assume, but Yaroslav seemed to have gone MIA. “It seems like the little Luna has been busy” Nikolay said, smiling at me. I smiled back and nodded. Despite the man being who he was, and despite everything going on; the man had the humor and gentle side that would make anyone smile. I didn’t know about his bad side, but I sure as hell didn’t want to see it.

Cyrus stepped even closer. “Your mind is not here,” he said quietly. “It is with him.” “That is not true.” “It is.” I scoffed. “You do not know anything about me.” “I know enough.” Before I could respond, Nikolai finally spoke. “You like to push people,” he said calmly, looking at Cyrus. “But you push too far.” Cyrus glanced at him briefly. “And you are enjoying the situation.” Nikolai did not deny it. “I am enjoying observing it.”

“He would indeed love the boy. He is all he has left of the boy’s mother and he loved her more than life itself. When she died, he went a little crazy.” He had given her a lot to think about. She still had so many questions. She got up and moved over to the window overlooking the courtyard. Without turning to face him she asked, “What is the man Nikoli like? Is he a good man?” Yuri threw his pen down on the desk. “Nikoli is a good man. Some men don’t understand that about him. He knows how to be tough while being fair in his justice.” “He’s Bratva too, then?”

Frederick said, laughing, and King Aleksander interrupted him. "Well, as everyone can see, Nikolas has his eyes, and his mother was Mathias's wife. There is also no record of Mathias disowning or rejecting her baby. You chose to dismiss all that and still tried to disqualify Nikolas," Aleksander said, and Frederick growled.

Vladimir stalked closer, the rocket launcher a breathing entity on his shoulder. “This madness is over. Let the girl go.” His voice held onto it a rough edge, one that was fucking cutting. I felt a tremor running through Lorenzo’s body. “This has nothing to do with you, Papa,” Nikolai called out. His father eyed him with such a disappointed look that I felt it deep in my bones. He said something in Russian that made Nikolai’s whole body grow limp. He lowered his gun, his shoulders slumping, then slowly walked towards his father.

My purpose here is clear: to reclaim what rightfully belongs to me. My name is Nikolai Fedorov, a seasoned assassin who has faithfully served the Bratva for countless years.
