Everybody was using code names, so there was no way of knowing who the other people sitting at the table were. Each player was very good at it, and so Adrian loved the challenge. Adrian won two times in the first eight rounds they played. Winning wasn’t easy, but he didn’t stop. A minimum number of 20 games must be played if one wants to quit. Otherwise, the 20K money they invested initially would not be returned to the player. So, Adrian played more games, and he didn’t win any of the next twelve rounds. He ended up losing close to 60K.

I was asking to pool our bets. In this game, if a player didn't have enough money, they could borrow from others on the spot. As long as they gave everyone hope of winning, anyone could chip in. But there was a rule. One could not reveal all of their cards. That would be considered unfair, so it wasn't allowed.

At the dinner table, someone suggested a round of King's Cup, a classic card-based drinking game. Janice lost the first round, and her penalty was three stiff drinks. The moment the glasses hit the table, Adrian instinctively reached to grab the one in front of her, but a buddy next to him blocked his move, grinning cheekily, "I get that you two are tight, but you can't mess with the drinking game rules.
