The Chosen One
In an instant, a large, leathered book appeared in her grasp and she held it out to me.
“This is what you seek,” she said. “But be warned, this book holds knowledge that many have sought but few have been able to bear.”
I swallowed hard, reaching out to take it. It felt strange in my palms but after seconds, I didn't feel that strangeness again.
After a while, strength returned to my limbs, and I carefully rose to my feet. “We need to leave,” I told the goddess. “We can’t stay here for long.”
The goddess inclined her head in understanding. “Then go with my blessing.” She placed a gentle hand on my forehead, a comforting warmth washing over me. “Good luck, Mima.”
