THE BEAST’S CURSED SLAVE
Only Gorvane remained, his goblet still untouched.
Her body shook. The goblet before her seemed to grow heavier, pulling her toward it.
She told herself no. She told herself she would not play his game. But the thought of an end, of no more bruises, no more questions, no more pain, pulled harder than her defiance.
Her fingers tightened around the goblet as if it might break in her grasp. The metal was cold. She lifted it with care, her breath caught halfway as the rim pressed against her lips.
Her eyes clung to Gorvane’s, desperate to hear him say something…at least. But, he said nothing and only watched.
