“That’s where people disappear,” I replied calmly. “Upstairs isn’t gambling. It’s predation with chips.”
Maya opened her mouth to argue, then hesitated when she saw my face. Not angry or afraid but certain.
“Down here,” I continued, steering them gently but firmly toward the lower tables,
