Her body trembled as though something greater than herself had already chosen for her. The scene shifted again. The grand hall melted into darkness, the stone beneath her feet disappearing. She was falling, weightless, her hand stretching toward his. For a heartbeat she thought she would touch him. But at the last instant, he withdrew, watching her plummet with eyes that revealed nothing.

I poured under the covers, “you should be grateful I snuck a peek at someone as ugly as you.” I could feel his grin without looking. “Say that to my face.” I turned to face him reluctantly, “I said, I could never look at an ugly ass like yours.” He chuckled, flashing those perfect white teeth. “And yet you kept looking…” I opened my mouth to fire back but I got stuck somewhere inbetween his eyes and mine. I was completely stupidly lost in him, there was something about being this close, it stirred something dangerous inside me. “….so what do you think?”

Aliyah's POV My stomach lurched as I fell, the sensation of gravity disappearing as it swallowed me whole. I tried to scream for Skylar, for Tyler, but the gag in my mouth turned my cry into a pathetic, muffled sob. The fall didn’t last as long as I expected. I hit something hard, not stone, but a thick layer of moss that smelled like old blood and stagnant water. The impact knocked the wind out of me. I rolled across the damp floor of whatever we had landed in, my silver chains clanking against the ground.

Zack's efforts paid off as he managed to overcome the gravitational pull momentarily. They were making headway, their pace increasing as they ran towards the edge of the mountain. But just as they thought they might break free, the center of the gravitational pull shifted direction, aligning with their path.

The ground beneath them shook violently, a deep groan vibrating through the very foundation of the palace. And then—a fissure split the floor wide open. Elara barely had time to react before the ground beneath her gave way. She felt the sharp pull of gravity as she fell, the world spinning in a blur of stone and shadows. “Let’s get back to your party.” I giggled, taking his hand in mine. We walked over to the door. The moment we touched the handle, the floor beneath us opened. I was weightless, falling into the unknown darkness below. I reached out for something to grasp onto as I felt Lyle’s strong arms wrap around me, pulling me close to his chest. Together, we slid down a slick and slimy stone chute, our bodies gliding effortlessly through the strange goo that coated its walls. With each passing moment, we descended deeper into the mysterious depths, the only sound echoing in our ears being the soft whoosh of our descent and the occasional splatter of the goo against our skin.

Her silver hair didn't fall; it drifted around her face like smoke in a stagnant room. "I can't—Victor, the weight. It’s gone." She reached for him, her fingers brushing the air. Her wedding ring slipped off her finger. It didn't clatter. It hovered between them, a small gold circle mocking the laws of the world. "The sensors are flatlining. Gravity isn't just fluctuating. It’s shutting off."

CHAPTER 57 – A Shared Fall Azeriel’s grip tightened a second before the ledge broke. Rowan felt the stone give way under both of them. There was no time to shout. The ground simply dropped and they dropped with it. The world became a blur of heat and rushing air. Rowan’s stomach twisted as they fell through the collapsing floor. Bits of rock tumbled around them, glowing from the fire rising below. Azeriel pulled her against him midfall. “Hold on to me.”
