I watch as the huge white dragon flies up into the air. “I’ve got the green one!” Truda yells, shooting her harpoon. I hear the scream of a dragon, but I can’t look. At that moment, the big beautiful dragon lifts up into the sky, screaming her rage. She and the big white one begin blowing air against us, pushing the other dragons back as the wolves go after the elves. They take off running, the cowards, but I hold steady, aiming for the beautiful dragon. I don’t want to kill her, I want to claim her.

“No, no, no, I swear I didn't mean anything like that! My brother! He's like a brother to me! Nothing else, I swear!!!” He winced at the deafening impact in his ears. “Gosh, he gets it, Lana. You didn't need to screa–” “He doesn't! Look.” Lana pointed while clutching his arm and hiding away behind him. He turned to Dylan and paused when he saw Lana wasn't kidding. Dylan's eyes had turned a bright green, a sight he was seeing for the second time that raised his curiosity again. Were all dragons capable of owning two different eyes color? What did it mean and what was its purpose?

That was the last time I saw her. I pulled the blanket over my head and held the stranger close as I cried. Not long after, I started hearing the sounds thuds, crashes, cries. Then silence. The moment Clara clenched the ruby in her palm, a terrifying pressure surged through the Dragon Abyss. The stench of death spread in all directions as the slumbering evil dragon finally opened its eyes. Clara was so terrified that her legs nearly gave out. She trembled violently and stammered, "There really… There really is an evil dragon down here!" The dragon's body was shrouded in black miasma. It opened its blood maw wide and slithered closer to Clara with obvious malice.

I took another deep breath, and the fresh ocean and lime scent assaulted my senses in the best way possible. The woman's grin turns into a full smile, which I don't understand. "I'm sorry to disappoint you but it's not just your dragon who's green." I swear my eyes bug from my face. I lift my human arms and the revulsion moves into another dimension. I am green. Fucking green. My gaze shifts to the woman and I stare back in horror.

“I smelled her. I know she’s here. Tana.” He nods. “Now is not the time. Go!” I begin to run to the nearest entrance to the underground. I want to make sure everyone has been released. These two dragons are going to kill everyone in the arena. If anyone is stuck underground, they will die too. The green dragon roars again, causing the walls of the arena to begin crumbling. He leaps off the ground and the air from the downward motion of his wings feels like a tornado. I glance up and see that he is flaming the fire, using his wings as the red dragon continues in her circle, blowing fire around the rim of the arena.

We just have to be careful when running for a while. The green dragon meets Norbert in the air above us. Their fight doesn’t look dangerous. Instead, it looks like a ballet in the air. They snap at each other and dodge one another, until Norbert grips the other dragon's neck, and they spin in the air, the green dragon trying to get to Norbert’s neck. But Norbert begins to shake him and as he does, I see the green dragon falter and go limp. “Okay, so Norbert isn’t so bad,” Zach says as Norbert delivers the green dragon to us.

His blonde hair was stuck to his face in damp strands; we had been at this for hours without a single break for water. “Let’s call it a day,” he muttered, his blue eyes showing a flicker of exhaustion that matched my own. I spit a mouthful of blood onto the grass, not caring how it looked, and headed over to the table to grab a bottle of water. As I took a long, cooling swig, a massive shadow swept over the training grounds, blocking out the sun. A dragon landed with a thud—yellow scales shimmering like gold leaf against the dark stone of the Keep.
