I could feel the weight of their gaze on me, but before I could continue, Gloria stood abruptly, irritation flashing across her face as she dusted her knees off.
"This is a waste of time. If you don’t want to help, just say so," Gloria spat. Sabrina shot her a warning glare, but Gloria didn’t back down.
"That’s okay, Elizabeth. Thank you for your time," Sabrina said quickly, her smile strained. I nodded, standing slowly, unsure of what to say next. I lingered for a moment, wanting to ask if I would still receive the compensation they promised. But I didn’t want to sound desperate—especially when I knew I couldn’t help them.
