I let out a cry of despair and tumble to the dry, cracked earth. “You will roam the dead planes for a thousand years,” a beautiful, melodic voice informs me. Her voice is so warm. So comforting. The Goddess? “This is your punishment, Easton Marquis, for desecrating one of my most precious children.” “No! Please!” I cry out hoarsely. “I know what I’ve done. I'm sorry. Spare me! Spare me! I beg you. Mercy!” “A thousand years,” she says. "That is your mercy."

His words wrapped around my throat like a rope. “Listen carefully, because I’ll only say this once. Don’t ever let me see your pathetic face again. I ask, feeling panic course through my body. “Never.” He simply states. Running a hand through my hair, I start pacing the room. Sadie is quiet the whole time and that does nothing to ease my anxiety. Like I said, I feel like the goddess is punishing me for my crimes against Sadie. Otherwise, why does it seem like things started falling apart the moment I unjustly imprisoned her?
