He stepped into the adjoining living room, closing the door to the bedroom behind him, and answered, his voice a low, cautious whisper. “Hello?” “They know.” The voice on the other end was a ragged, panicked gasp. It was Dr. Fiske. “They know I talked to you. My clinic’s security was breached remotely. My files are being wiped as we speak. I am a dead man, you understand?” Lucian’s blood ran cold. “Where are you?”

That sickening, unmistakable rhythm of skin meeting skin. “No,” I whispered, a tremble slipping through my voice. “Not again. Not here…” I wanted to turn back. God, I should have turned back. But I couldn’t. My legs kept moving, slow and stiff, like I was sleepwalking into a nightmare. And then I saw them. Finn. Vivienne. Sprawled on the ground like animals, naked and tangled in each other, fucking like the world didn’t exist. Like I didn’t exist. And I just stood there.

Just endless darkness and the sound of the Puppet Master’s laughter echoing through my mind. “Do you see now, Sera?” its voice hissed, cold and mocking. “This is your fate. You cannot escape it. You cannot escape me.” I gritted my teeth, forcing myself to focus, to push back against the pain and the fear. I couldn’t let it win. I couldn’t let it destroy everything I loved. I closed my eyes, drawing on every ounce of strength I had left, and felt the artifact’s power stir within me, a flicker of light in the darkness.

“He must be thirsting for so much blood for being away from his clan for so long.” “So he came here to feed?” Violet asked. “Not just that, I’m not so sure, but I think he’s here for vengeance.” “For what? He’s a rogue. What is he avenging?” “Geez, Valerie, you’re so outdated. He’s not a rogue because he got banished from his clan, it’s because he’s a survivor from the attack on his clan.” He paused, making my heart skip a beat as I was slowly getting the idea of where this was leading to. Atlas stared at them one by one like he was about to reveal something big. “He was a member of The Night Exiles clan, the one that was supposedly wiped out three years ago.”

“I hope you’re not planning to touch it, my Lady. You wouldn’t want Lord Casimir to get angry again.” “I’m not,” my future self said smoothly, though my thoughts screamed the opposite. “I just want to know more. It wouldn’t hurt to learn.” Helena swallowed. “You weren’t born before this happened. Lord Malakar… he’s over five hundred years old.” My future self nodded. “He’s warned every generation. Anyone who touches that forbidden light will die—but not an easy death. I heard a rogue once tried it. No one saw what happened, but he vanished. Lord Malakar never explained it. He only said anyone who touches it will meet a cruel fate.”

And their faces—gods, their faces look like graves. “Who are you?” I rasp. My voice is torn raw, almost gone. The one in front steps forward. A woman with white hair braided down her spine, a scar slashed deep across her throat like someone tried to silence her and failed. She smiles like the end of the world. “We,” she says, voice rough as gravel and cold as riverstone, “are the Forsworn.”

Beta Jasper, the notorious second hand to the alpha. “I see that you have a death wish, you worthless omega,” he snarled as he opened the locks to the dungeon. “Attacking the Luna of this pack is a grievous offence,” he continued. “I have always wondered how sweet your flesh would taste when I feed it to my beasts. It’s a pity that we have to wait until you have delivered the heir before we mete out any punishments to you.” He pulled the metallic door open and entered the dungeon. Two gamma soldiers walked in behind him.

Chapter 11: The Enemy's Plan Kael's POV The night was still, yet I knew a storm was brewing. Not the kind that came with wind and rain, no this one was different. This was a storm of power shifting, borders being tested, and blood would spill. I stood in my study, staring at the map of territories stretched across my desk. My gaze lingered on the Silverfang Pack's lands, their borders marked clearly in dark ink. Lucian Blackwood ruled there, and for too long, he had acted as if he were untouchable.

Mara asks as she gets up from her crouching stance and moves to my dresser where I see a tray of hot steaming tea. Nodding, I accept the cup of tea when she brings it to me, still shaken by the nightmare. “So we need to get you dressed for the ceremony,” I hear her say and her words jolt me. It's finally here—the day I bond with Kael Blackthorne, Alpha of the Shadowfang Pack and my mate. It's my Mate-Bond Ceremony. I gulp my tea and finish it in second, flinging my legs over the side of the bed as I stretch.

I paced across the room, my heart racing as the echoes of my last dream still clung to my skin. The furies. The whispered warnings, the icy grips, and the terror—they were becoming more real with every passing day. The eerie connection between me and the Underworld was no longer something I could brush aside.
