Crap. I spaced out. “Sorry,” I laugh, biting the inside of my cheek. “Can you say it again? Your smile short-circuited my brain.”
He laughs. An actual genuine laugh. And it’s the best sound in the world. I get smiles maybe once a week, but a laugh? That’s a blue moon event.
“Okay,” he says, shaking his head like I’m ridiculous. “I’ll say it again. Do you know what kind of people were in that auction?”
