Daya berasal dari keluarga terpandang. Papanya adalah seorang dokter bedah jantung yang handal. Mamanya juga memiliki profesi yang sama sebagai dokter, namun dengan spesialiasi anestesi. Seluruh keluarga besar Daya adalah orang terpelajar. Masyarakat di kota tempat tinggalnya lebih mengenal mereka sebagai keluarga dokter.
