The door hissed open…and he froze.
Inside the central chamber was a sleek table, monitors, and a single chair. Sitting in it—
Aiden.
But not his Aiden.
This Aiden’s eyes were vacant. His expression, emotionless. His wrists were cuffed lightly to the chair—not restrained, but contained.
“Aiden?” Julian whispered.
The boy blinked. No recognition.
Before Julian could move, a voice crackled through the overhead speaker.
