MOON OF ASHES
Mara whispered.
The archway loomed over them like the open mouth of some sleeping giant. No wind moved within it; no sound came out. Even the red moss stopped at its base, as though it refused to cross. Above the arch, the runes glimmered faintly, the same crescent patterns Ava had traced at the lodge, but darker now, their curves jagged like teeth.
Rowan wiped his blade on his sleeve, still breathing hard from the fight. “This is it?” he asked, his voice echoing flatly off the stone. “The place that’s supposed to end everything?”
