A Vampiric Kiss
“In my head. In the woods. Even when I sleep.”
She walked toward me, two mugs in hand and passed one to me like she hadn’t heard a word.
I took it. Our fingers touched but she didn’t pull away. Neither did I.
“I could say the same,” she said.
And just like that, I found myself getting up and moving closer to her, closer than I had any right to be.
“You shouldn’t,” I said quietly. She couldn’t understand what the danger was.
“Too late,” she whispered.
I took a step closer, much more than I should have, really, and kissed her. Her lips were soft and warmer than I expected. She tasted like honey and chamomile. Her hand touched my chest, resting there.
