I bent the doorknob, checking in to see what was going on. To my surprise, two people were making out. I wanted to close the door and exit until something made me stop. AURORA’S POV I couldn’t have imagined such a death even in my darkest fantasy; suspended in the air, surrounded by candles with weird fragrance. My death meant the return of someone very evil. It also meant the death of my little girl. I tried to use my magic but it was all in vain. My body was drained of all strength. Despair had taken root in my heart and had grown like Cuscuta engulfing my heart; draining it of the tiniest bit of hope that was left.

Out of frustration, she was just about of cast a spell over the pot, so that it could bring out something helpful but her eyes caught a glimpse of a little carving over it. Prying closely, she inspected the carving intensely. It wasn’t very clear and was a very tiny one. But turning the pot closer, she was able to see the drawing of something. In order to find what it was, she casted a spell over it and the second instant, the little green pot in her hands changed to a large sized pot, while everything else over it also got magnified.

"Your friend died recently—no one is safe anymore. Therefore mum and dad want me to find a familiar. And I choose this dragon!" I pause, not entirely sure if I want to become Jessie's familiar. If I could convince her to help me find my mate, then sure, but I don't think she would do that. Having a master can be both good and bad. I would have to protect Jessie and come when she calls for me, but at the same time, I would grow insanely strong. A familiar get to consume their master's magical powers, and Jessie has a lot. With a bit of patience and time, I could probably change forms or grow.

She had to find a new bed for her familiar first. Finn liked to walk with her around campus. They ignored the stares they were receiving as a fox familiar was quite rare. The most exotic familiar before Finn had been a chameleon bonded to a First Year boy. Familiars weren’t allowed in the dining hall and Finn would hide outside in the hallway away from the sight of teachers and students. Usually an animal or spirit that helps them with their spells, we also carry out little errands here and there. I don’t have magic myself, but I can guide my master’s magic. My ability depends largely on what my master needs me to do.” My mind flashed straight to the invisible monkey, Milo. Was he a familiar too? “Just to clarify, Nana Brooke really is dead, right?”

Crazy Harry shrugs, then leans down to pet one of the squirrels between its little pointy, tufted ears. “I know a lot of things.” When he straightens again, there’s just the hint of fear in his pale gaze. “Are you going to hurt me?”.“No,” I say, giving Kian a pointed look. I drop my arm away from the feral shifter’s chest and step bodily in front of him before he can terrify our informant into running. “Harry, are you familiar with the Tree of Life?”
