ZACHARY’S POV Daphne ran back into her house the moment our bodies separated, her footsteps retreating fast- as though she was running from more than just me. The faint flush on her cheeks replayed in my mind, stirring something dangerous in my chest. I’d grown so used to her hatred that seeing her flustered felt unreal, like a mistake my heart wasn’t supposed to witness. “She’s going to be the death of me, and I know it already,” I said to myself, walking into the local gym.

Only time would reveal the answers she sought, as Daphne prepared to bridge the gap between her supernatural companions and the enigma that lay before them. "Hi, Anna."
