Chrome and Claws
That night, Raven barely slept as her dreams were filled with whispers, overlapping voices, the sound of dripping water, and faint heartbeats echoing in the dark.
When she opened her eyes, it was still midnight.
But the sound was still there.
Thump. Thump.
She froze. It wasn’t her heartbeat. It was louder, heavier, echoing through her veins.
She pressed a trembling hand to her chest one heartbeat.
Then lower, to her abdomen, there was another.
Both beating in perfect rhythm.
She gasped softly, a mix of awe and terror flooding her chest. “Two…” she whispered. “Two heartbeats.”
But as the realization dawned, that she had two heartbeats that belonged to her unborn babies, a dark chill passed th
