"Because I've had heats before. Suppressed ones, small ones that broke through for a few hours before the medicine caught back up." My breath comes ragged, fear threading through the fever now, sharper than anything the fever alone has made me feel. "This isn't that. This has been climbing for an hour straight and it isn't slowing down at all."
He doesn't say anything for a long moment, some silent calculation moving behind his eyes.
