Ghost on the highway
The shadows around them thickened again, not from the void this time, but as if the world itself was bending, responding to the artefact’s energy.
Then, from the shifting darkness, the shadow heir emerged. But it was different now. No longer a swirling mass of pure darkness, it had formed a body—tall, imposing, with features that were almost human but twisted, alien. Its eyes burnt white-hot, and the edges of its form flickered like smoke in a storm.
“You survived,” the heir hissed, its voice like steel grinding against stone. “Impossible.”
Riven tightened his grip on the artefact. “We’re not done yet. And we’re not afraid of you.”
