I caught the faint mint of toothpaste on her breath. She was going to kiss me. My heart started pounding like it was trying to break out of my chest. At the last possible second, I turned my head. Her lips brushed my stubbled cheek instead. She pulled back, looking hurt and knitted her brows together. "What was that for?" I grimaced, feeling like an idiot. "I can't kiss you right now. I haven't brushed my teeth. My mouth probably tastes like a dumpster." She pouted and crossed her arms over the gown. "I wanted to kiss your lips, not your teeth, you dummy."

Skeptically, Dr Tyson asked. “Yes,” Chance sighed. “I still miss my upper right incisor because of the incident. Which is why I avoid drinking way too much. My breath might stink!” I smelled my breath while still covering my palm with my mouth. I braced myself, setting down my grocery bag and turning to face him. "What happened?" I asked cautiously. He grinned - a big, toothy grin - except it wasn't so toothy anymore. "Look!" "It's not that I didn't want to do it, I just...." "You just what?" I averted my gaze from him. "I just ate scallops a while ago and I haven't brushed my teeth yet. Can't you smell my breath? Does it taste weird?" I got surprised when he suddenly leaned closer to me and gave me a quick kiss on the lips. "It doesn't taste weird. It tastes as good as ever."
