The ground seemed to quake beneath his weight as he charged straight toward me. My heart slammed against my chest, my breath, halfway between a gasp and a scream. I knew I couldn’t move fast enough. But before he could reach me, Ragnar appeared. He sank his fangs straight into Dax’s neck. Ragnar jerked his head back viciously, tearing away with him a thick chunk of flesh that ripped free from Dax’s beastly form. Blood sprayed across the grass, splattering in all directions, staining the once-green blades and splashing onto the blooming flowers that surrounded us.

The High Elder’s jaw clenched. “Then so be it. After all, sacrifices must be made.” Dax exploded. He lunged forward, power hit him hard, guards surged in towards him, spells flaring, chains of glowing runes snapping tightly around his limbs. “Get away from her!” he roared. Aria screamed his name as he was dragged to his knees by binding runes. . Her fear became rage and rage turned into something else. The child stirred deep and slow. The ground beneath them began to tremble.

The commanding tone of Dexter and the bone-chilling howl of Blaze's wolf caused the men to tremble in their stand. Phoenix's eyes, hazel brown, shone with appreciation and thankfulness. I smiled, and Lucious slapped me. Rage’s anger came out. He howled, and before my eyes could blink, his wolf took over, throwing Damian, who screamed in pain, visibly injured. He didn't kill him—he didn't want to. His face furiously turned to Lucious, and a battle started. None of Lucious' guns did damage on him. He lunged at Lucious, who screamed.

Dax was controlling my body. I Pushed against my restraint. My bones cracked slightly as I clenched my fists hard. My claws pierced through my skin, “Four…” My body trembled, I screamed at Dax to give me back control. The fraud still wasn’t moving. And fuck, I didn’t know what dax would do if he counted down to one. Chase him? Bite him? Claim him? Or even Kill him? The last thought should’ve been the likeable course of action for dax.

His gorgeous black head was now bloodied, his tongue dangling from his open mouth. The crowd gasped in shock. Max gripped my hand. I saw Mr. Chadwick’s fists fold in rage. The Vandals nearby circled around him, almost protectively. Ryders circled Aston. In the room, testosterone brimmed. Tattooed bikers facing each other off. “Oh, I’m sorry, I heard you like to hunt and display your kills so I thought I could bring you a fresh head,” Dexter said. His eyes were wild and psychopathic.
