I can’t let go if deep down inside me, they need me for this. I got off the boat when I reached Catagban port where the van that'll take me to the resort was found. I occupied myself by reading a book by Agatha Christi, ABC Murder. One of Hercule Poirot myster. It was a book that Rhisha gave me at our graduation. She said that I might like it since I love reading books. I sighed. Because of thinking deeply, I got lost in what I am currently reading. It was the part where Fraser discovered that Betty died during the interrogation she did with Poirot.

I steadied myself, gripping the rungs tightly before letting out a long breath of relief. “Be careful!” Manolya scolded from below, though her tone was far more worried than angry. I didn’t seem fazed in the slightest. Instead, my eyes lit up with sudden curiosity as I peeked inside the book that had nearly knocked me out. The front page read: Beçin Chronicles: A History of the Byzantine Castle and its Mythical Beings. “It’s from the 1400s!” I exclaimed, my voice filled with pure excitement. Manolya could hear the frantic energy in my tone as I carefully flipped through the soft, worn pages.

I smiled and brought out a new novel I got from the store the other day and opened the first chapter to read. There are like ten minutes before assembly starts so I can read at least a chapter or two before it starts. ‘Hmm… interesting’ i thought to myself. “Why didn't I know about this book already?” I muttered under my breath and turned to the next page. “Very interesting.” “I know it is,” I turned my head to see Chris put his bag on the desk beside me and sat down on the chair. “Even though I haven't read it, I know it is interesting”

Charlie Brown looked up at the wall clock and saw that the time was thirty minutes past one.she sighed. Sometimes, life at this old place seemed to drag on for hours. She looked around her office and was once again hit with the knowledge that this place told a story of it’s own. There were tales of secrets and lies, hidden crimes and deaths. Innocent victims put through suffering at the hands of the perpetuators who were currently free men and a menace to the city because of the numerous unsolved cases that were now piled up.

Emma let out a defeated sigh but decided to wear it after not finding any other suitable option. As she stretched her hand back to open her zipper, it hit something firm, followed by a waft of warm breath, sensually caressing the nape of her neck. Fear rushed through her veins, rendering her body motionless. He's here! "Husband and wife don't hide from each other," he whispered, his voice growing huskier as their bodies drew dangerously close. She inhaled sharply, and an enticing blend of his luxurious cologne, laced with a subtle note of alcohol, enveloped her senses.

I say it appreciatively, and he only grunts in response before walking away. I go into the mystical creatures island, and I stare at the amount of books on the shelves. How the hell am I supposed to pick just one out of all of this? A particular hardcover catches my attention. It appears ancient, yet it’s lilac, exactly the same color as my eyes. I take it off the shelf and grin when I see its title. THE HISTORY OF OMEGAS: HOW THE DIVINE BEINGS CAME TO BE. Yes! This is it! This is the book!

Then I moved away from the window, and turned to look at the books which all looked amusing. I reached out to the bottom of the shelf and removed a book from it. Then I dusted it off, and sneezed as the dust got into my nostrils. These books must have been here for a long time, and that means it’s all about history. Hmm! Things are about to get interesting. “Story of the Rainbow?” I scoffed and bit my lips, then opened the book. I flipped through the pages, awed by the writings and the pictures which were inside.

He was always uncomfortable talking about his work, and specifically the money he made from it; it felt too much like bragging. “You working on anything now?” Bias asked. “Yeah, I’m about two thirds of the way through a new book called Disappearing Act.” “What’s it about? Or is that top secret information?” “No, it’s actually a historical piece about the Lost Colony of Roanoke and what might have actually happened to them.” Bias’s shoulders slumped a little. “Oh, interesting.” “You don’t like it?” “It’s not that, seriously that’s a cool idea, it’s just . . . well, I was sure you would be writing something about your house.”

It felt heavy, and with the edges of the book looking slightly ripped, I could only imagine the contents inside being worse off. Turning to the lock on the side, I tried to pry it open, yet it didn't budge. It looked rusted shut, as a small, unrecognisable symbol caught my attention. From what I could make out, it seemed to be an H with vines woven around the letter. Groaning, I gripped the lock tighter and pulled as hard as I could. "Come on, you stupid thing." Realising I wasn't going to get anywhere with the stupid lock, I threw it back onto the desk, causing a loud thud to echo through my small room.
