MARKED BY THE SILENCED WOLF

The harpoons hit the shroud and dissipated into mist. The Clean-Up ships hovered for a moment, their logic cores baffled, and then they turned and retreated toward orbit.
I sank back against the obsidian heart, the silence of the deep wrapping around me. I was alone, but I wasn’t lonely. I could feel the Hub in the North, the black forest growing over the iron, and the Sky-Whale flying through the purple clouds.
I closed my eyes and let the resonance carry me.
