The Cold Compromise
Ethan tackled the Hammer from behind, driving his full weight into the man’s lower back.
The Hammer staggered but did not fall. With horrifying ease, he reached behind him, grabbed Ethan by the collar, and threw him across the kitchen. Ethan slammed against the floor, the air leaving his lungs in a painful gasp.
Luca reached the knives. He grabbed the longest one, a heavy butcher blade with a razor edge.
The Hammer turned toward him again.
This time, Luca did not retreat. He held the butcher knife low, letting his breath steady. His arm trembled, but his resolve did not.
