I swept the beam across dusty shelves, old furniture covered in sheets, and stacks of boxes labeled “C9” in black marker—my wife’s obsessive filing system for holiday stuff. Nothing. No glowing eyes, no claws, no growling shadows. Just silence and cobwebs. “Nothing here, Lily!” I called up the stairs, my voice echoing slightly. “Just junk. Come down tomorrow and I’ll show you.”

I refrained in fear that if I touched it there, it might whisk me away from this magical place. Row upon row of bookshelves stretched out before me, the books’ silver spines glinting in the soft light. The haunting book collection seemed to stretch on beyond my line of sight. From what little I was able to read as I walked by, their topics ranged from ancient Grimoires bound in black leather to modern volumes, bound by machines with glossy edges.

I continue to read and try to understand the knowledge before me. I decide to pack these books and I go back for others. I grab several jars of herbs and such too. Several crystals who's importance I read. I grab a book on banshees, and another old book with marker on it's spine. It's so old the original print has faded. Incubi, succubi and demons. I drag it back to the room excited to crack it open.

See? This was such a beautifully yet tear-jerking novel I have ever successfully crafted an idea with, a few months ago. But after I have encountered all the horrible occurrences for the past months, I came back to work and turned this sad and romantic novel into a mystery and horror novel, which made all my work colleagues and supervisor absolutely petrified. They have no idea that I was even more shocked and horrified when I have suddenly realized that my novel had suddenly become so dark and twisted. It was beautifully written, like a psychopath has written a novel for the very first time.
