Novel & Cerita How To Get A Job As An Audiobook Reader

Handed in the application in person, on the spot, and hoped that would be my break. A week later, I got a call from the bookstore. They wanted to interview me. Rushing to the interview, I felt elated and so nervous. The manager was a lovely woman named Mrs. Thompson, who had all these questions for me regarding the books in her store and why I wanted the job. "I've always loved books," I said honestly. "They've been my escape, my comfort. The thing is, I want to be able to relay that love to others. Mrs. Thompson's smiled was warm. "That's a good answer, Maxine. You're hired."

“After wrap I take the train if you take the train.” She should have asked about the end date, the next booking, the way jobs scattered people. Instead she kissed him mint-cool and let him go into the mist at 2:03 because nine-forty was real. The next morning the booth was just a booth. Eden put the headphones on. The reader — museum audio, fifty, kind — sat on the stool and spoke the man’s lines with the emotional range of a well-built bench. It was perfect. It was sterile. Through the glass Kit sat in the chair with his face on, faders moving, talkback crisp.

"Trust me, I speak from experience." I smiled. Actually smiled. "I think I can handle that." "When can you start?" "Whenever you need me." "How about Monday? We can do training during a slow afternoon shift, get you familiar with everything." "Monday works." "Great." He pulled out his phone. "Let me get your contact info and we'll set up the details." I rattled off my number and email, still half-convinced this wasn't real. A job. In a bookstore. Surrounded by the stories I loved.
