"Uncle left this. Figured I would bring it by." He took it from me and set it down without even looking. His eyes stayed on me. "You are not here for that. Are you?" I bit my lip and looked up at him, feeling that sassy fire rise. "Maybe not. I told you last night. I have been wanting you. Bad. Are you going to keep pretending you do not want this too?" Jax stepped close. His hand came up and cupped my chin. "You are playing a dangerous game, little girl. Your uncle would lose his shit if he knew you were here begging for my cock."

Stopped. Walked in. A kid, maybe twenty, stood behind the counter, staring at his phone. "Do you have books for teenagers?" He looked up. "Like, Young Adult?" "I don't know. Sixteen-year-olds." "Yeah. YA section's in the back." I walked to the back. Found shelves labeled Young Adult Fiction. Pulled out a book at random. Read the back. Something about dragons. Shoved it back in. Pulled out another. Read the back.

When she saw me approach, she only eyed me long enough to see what I'd scored, before returning to a book she must have snuck into one of the baskets from earlier. The Hunger Games. I knew the premise enough to know it was part of an extensive challenge between morals and survival that seemed to have her immersed enough to focus exclusively on the writing beneath her gaze. But while I began to skin and prepare dinner, I realized she was using it as a distraction as she didn't do as much as flip a page. She was simply debating breaking our silence or remaining obstinate.

She pushed the plate toward him. “I’m not hungry.” “Little girls have to eat.” “I’m not little!” she fired back, her face reddening. “I’m fourteen. Three candles already.” “What does that mean?” “You start with one candle when you are seven. Two when you are ten. Three—from thirteen to seventeen. And if you are really good, really dedicated to the fight, you join the Light Patrols after that. Girls, too.”

I was busy reading some of the book titles: The Lord Of The Rings, The Hunger Games, The Harry Potter Series, The Lightening Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympian), The Last Mission.... Wow, he has good taste in books. I can't believe he actually read these. I began laughing to myself. "What's so funny?" Tyler asked. I turned to look at him, still laughing. "It's just so hard to imagine a boy like you reading. If I hadn't seen it myself, I wouldn't have believed it." I commented.

"Okay, have your seat, and what brings you here?" "My eighteenth!" Anna grinned. "Ah! Yeah! It's in two weeks time" Faye laughed. "What would you like as a present?" Anna pouted, " I want to move in with my boyfriend" Faye sighed. Deep down they both knew even though their parents are alive, Daylan ruled over his baby sister like a prison warden. Even though Anna was finally eighteen, Faye knew that it would not matter to daylan even if she was twenty he would never allow his baby sister move in with a man.

she laughed while sticking out her tongue. “Can we not talk about him right now? ” She shook her head and smiled. I stood up. “I’m going inside to take a shower. I’m done exercising for today.” “Fine, be lazy,” she exclaimed. “But you should consider climbing his treadmill; I heard it’s good exercise! ” she shouted after me. I pretended not to hear just so she would shut the hell up. I stretched out on the lounger by the poolside sipping a huge cup of pineapple juice while I read the first book of The Hunger Games. The house was empty and quiet since Hannah and Kate left to go shopping earlier.
