I didn't cower or move an inch. He struck me across the face with the back of his hand, the force of it snapping my head back. "I told you to pray to your gods, girl," he hissed. "Not to try and make deals with us." I slowly brought my face back to center, staring him directly in the eyes. "You know where I'm from?" I asked, a dark, terrifying smile touching my lips. " people consider me a god." I didn't even have to touch him. I reached out with my mind, grabbing the heat that was already vibrating in the air.

I was glad Lance could also hear him because if I didn’t have a witness, I may think I was losing my mind.

As soon as He said those two brief but explanatory words, it just clicked. "You're God." I found myself whisper, sounding odd even to my ears. How was I standing in front of God? Wasn't I supposed to be melted into a puddle because of how 'no one can see God'. He smiled, "Nice to finally meet you Damien. You seem to have said a lot about me but not to me." "I don't believe in you." I said blatantly, regaining the confidence that had initially dissipated at the realization of whom I was speaking to.

She said, "The_____ the,,,," Eden tried to say but she couldn't believe it that she was seeing her. Eden's words faltered as she tried to process the unbelievable sight before her. It was a revelation that left her stunned and speechless. The woman she was looking at claimed to be the Moon Goddess herself, a deity revered in the pack's beliefs. Meeting a deity face to face was a momentous and surreal experience, and she couldn't help but wonder why the Moon Goddess had appeared to her and what purpose she might have in mind.

I didn’t feel afraid. The fire inside me rose, not angry, not wild, just certain. “You defy your creators,” they said. “I wasn’t yours to begin with,” I answered. And when I spoke, the storm hesitated. The light trembled. Because for the first time in centuries, a god hesitated before a child. I woke to the sound of wind rattling the windows, my pulse steady, my power calm. Vera stood by my bed, her eyes glowing faintly. “They reached you again.”

I even found myself praying to the goddess to keep them all safe ( an act that surprised me in no small measure). And to make things even more surprising, when I closed my eyes for the first time in almost two days I didn't see Theo's face, rather I saw my sister's face for the first time since her death and for some reason, she seemed to be smiling at me........ very strange.
