My fingers clutched the fabric of my pants. Relief scraped through my chest, like a stone being dislodged.
“The loss of his parents was a tragedy,” Scott continued, his voice faltering for a second. “They were my friends. But now… the truth has been spoken. And with that, we close this night. No one died in our pack. We have injuries, yes. But no deaths. No more bloodshed. Everyone may return home.”
For a moment, it felt like it was over. A false peace hovered like mist. But then, a sharp voice shattered the quiet.
