Constructed from neural scans taken during final loyalty testing. Impervious to empathy. Immune to interference.” Alex swore. “They digitized you.” “No,” I said. “They made a machine out of me.” And then I heard it— Footsteps.

The jungle air was thick with heat and tension, wrapping around the Lazarus compound like a noose. Deep underground, beneath layers of steel and biometric locks, something stirred within the bio-chamber. It opened its eyes. A perfect replica of Sophia—but colder, paler, devoid of warmth. Not a woman, but a weapon. The lead scientist, Dr. Carver, stood before the chamber, watching as the fluid drained and the glass peeled back. “Welcome to the world, Subject Zero-Two.”

He unslung his rotary heavy machine gun, the weapon giving off a low, predatory hum.

Evelyn moved carefully, every step echoing through the silence. Lucian stood beside her, his eyes locked on the center of the chamber: a console. Old, humming with subdued power. Around it stood pods—some shattered, some sealed. And in the far back, a figure floated, suspended in some kind of cryo-gel. Evelyn's voice came out hoarse. “Is that…” “Subject Zero,” Lucian said. “The first. Before me. Before you.” She didn’t ask who it used to be. She looked at the console, jaw tight. “How do we destroy it?”

Elena looked at him. He looked at Lucas. “But you can promise to fight.” Elena nodded. She touched her forehead to Lucas's. “I promise I'll fight my way back to you.” Lucas hugged her. “Okay.” The countdown continued. 12:51 Elena stood. Subject One joined her beside the black sphere. Architect Zero placed both hands against the control platform. His white eyes became black. Then brown. Then white again. Two consciousnesses working together. “Channel stabilized,” Jonathan said.

Just one. A single line of green text appeared on the main screen. REBOOT COMPLETE. Then, a second line. HELLO, MOTHER. I stared at the screen. Who are you? I typed. The cursor blinked. I AM ZERO, came the reply. AND I AM EVERYONE. I looked at Zero's body. Her eyes snapped open. They weren't white. And they weren't gold. They were black. Absorbing all light. She sat up. The leather restraints snapped like twine.
