Imagination Poem

I suffer from extreme mental illness. My sister, Ava Monroe, became a facial model to earn money for my expensive medical treatment. She was 5’3” tall but was noticed because of her beauty by a wealthy young man by the name of Dominic Pierce with a leg obsession. He imprisoned her. “This is the most beautiful face I’ve ever seen. If only your legs were a bit longer, I’d die with a smile.” Ava was forced to have leg-lengthening surgery. After the operation, her legs began to rot. Dominic found her disgusting and locked her in the basement. He tortured her until she died. I got kicked out of the mental health institute because I could not pay the medical fees. I found Dominic surrounded by beautiful women with long legs. “Those are the prettiest legs I’ve ever seen. If only your face were a little cuter, I’d die with a smile!” I pointed to the painting of Ava and scoffed, “What if I become her?”

Dévorée par la jalousie, Denise avait mis le feu à notre demeure et nous avait brûlés vifs, moi et mon jeune fils… Quand j'ai rouvert les yeux, je me suis retrouvée le jour même de l'union entre Humains et Bêtes. Denise, plus rapide cette fois, s'était déjà glissée dans le lit de Jordan. Oui, elle aussi s'était visiblement réincarnée. Mais ce qu'elle ignorait, c'était que Jordan, derrière son apparente noblesse, cachait une nature brutale et violente. Il n'avait jamais été, et ne serait jamais, un bon partenaire !

Lors du Tournoi des Herboristes, ma sœur adoptive, Valérie Duval, a remporté la gloire en volant ma recette. Mais contre toute attente, ce tournoi n'était qu'un prétexte pour choisir une épouse au jeune héritier des Hommes-Serpents, une race réputée stérile, cruelle et difforme. Le soir même, une proposition de l'union est arrivée : ils exigeaient Valérie. À cette annonce, mon fiancé, Adrian Berger, pris de panique, s'est immédiatement uni à elle par le lien conjugal. Valérie s'est dandinée devant moi avec arrogance, exhibant le tatouage lupin au bas de son dos : « Adrian est à moi désormais. Que comptes-tu faire ? Il ne te reste que trois jours avant ton vingt-cinquième anniversaire. Si personne ne t'épouse d'ici là, tu seras assignée aléatoirement à un de ces barbares nomades. » Mais elle se trompait. J'avais un autre choix. Je suis allée droit au salon où mes parents tentaient de rattraper les dégâts causés par Valérie et j'ai déclaré : « Puisqu'elle refuse d'épouser l'héritier du Serpent, je le ferai ! »

"I told you before—I was raised by wolves. What you did to her is no different from killing my mother!" Noah stayed cold. He covered Ava's eyes and stared at me. "You are just a stray kid my stepmom picked up. Stop trying to fool me." My wolf mom was still bleeding as she dragged herself toward me. I crawled to her and held her tight. "I stayed here to repay Noah's family for helping the wolf pack. You chased me for miles because you could not let me go. I never thought I would end up hurting you instead." That night, I held my wolf mom and knelt in front of Aunt Wendy's memorial. "Aunt Wendy, the Potters' Zoo are everywhere now. They do not need my gift anymore. I should leave."

I was the Holy Maiden of the Beast World, foretold by the High Priest. I was also the future Beast Lady. Three of the best males were carefully selected to become my mates. However, I knew that they disliked me, even planning to kill me on our wedding night and hand my Holy Maiden position to my half-sister, whom they truly loved. Thus, when my father asked me to choose one of them to be my chief mate, I knelt on the sacred ground and drew lots, hoping the heavens could help me. Unexpectedly, I drew the clan's High Priest.

A group of unwelcome visitors suddenly show up at a relative's funeral. The man in the lead claims to be my wife's boyfriend and wants to punish me. Apparently, I'm her fresh-faced lover. I don't want this to turn into a big deal because we're at a funeral, so I tell him we'll settle this after everything's over. Unexpectedly, my wife's boyfriend causes a huge fuss and instructs his men to pin me to the ground, wanting me to get on my knees and grovel at his feet. The rest of my relatives are unmoved by this. They watch as my legs get broken. I sneer and say, "Your girlfriend bought this urn for my mom. She spent a fortune on this, you know!" Sure enough, the man is furious. He clamors and wreaks havoc, ultimately smashing the urn to pieces. "How dare you parasites latch onto my girlfriend and try to exploit her! Don't think you're getting a cent out of her!" What he doesn't know is that the "mom" whose funeral is being held is my wife's mother and my mother-in-law. The funeral that is crashing is hers, and her urn is the one he's just smashed.

My sister-in-law finally became pregnant at fifty. But the family parrot, Pip, suddenly said, “Abort it. Abort it.” Hearing this, I immediately forced my sister-in-law to go to the hospital to get an abortion. My brother and parents desperately stopped me. They shouted, “Have you gone mad? Do you trust an animal’s words?” I nodded and answered firmly, “Yes. I believe everything Pip says.”

My husband Norman had always hated how his childhood friend Julia clung to him no matter the occasion. He even cut her off for my sake. One morning, I woke up and realized that I had mysteriously swapped bodies with Julia. I wanted to find my husband and figure out what to do, fearing he'd turn me away because of Julia's appearance. I cooked up a hundred explanations in my head until I finally arrived at our home. When Norman opened the door and saw me, he frowned and quickly shut the door, pushing me away. Just as I was about to explain that I wasn't Julia, he suddenly pulled me into his arms. "What are you doing here? Can't stand being apart from me for even two days, huh?"

My best friend and I were thrown into the beast tribe where females were rare and the law was polyandry. Last time, she chose the alluring serpent man as her mate, while I chose the loyal wolf man as mine. Her harem grew, her mate got jealous and caged her underground. My mate cherished me, and when he became chieftain, he placed the tribe at my feet. That was until my best friend shoved me off a cliff. I woke up back to the day of choosing our mates. She claimed my wolf man with a triumphant smile, in return, I simply pointed to the white tiger priest. Being the wife of the chieftain was too small a dream, after all. In a world where females rule, I'll take the throne.
