He just stood there and absorbed it, blow after blow, his head snapping with the impact, blood rising quickly at the corner of his mouth and then his brow.
"Come on, Draco," Manny muttered beside me. "What are you doing?"
I was asking myself the same thing. Every time a punch connected I felt my fingers curl tight, my whole body tensing in a reflex I couldn't suppress. This wasn't strategy. It didn't look like any kind of plan. It looked like a man who had decided, for whatever reason, that he deserved to be hurt tonight.
"Something is wrong," Manny said quietly. "This is not like him."
