CHAPTER 9: UNINVITED Ivy's POV The announcement came during breakfast, delivered with the kind of forced enthusiasm producers only used when they knew a twist would blow up ratings. "Please welcome our newest arrival," the host said on the monitor mounted above the kitchen. "Nate's ex, Camila Reyes." The room went quiet. I looked at Nate. His fork stopped halfway to his mouth, and every ounce of color drained out of his face. "You're kidding," he said.

"Actually, I was coming over to either your home or your workspace to give you something, but I guess fate brought us together here." I frowned slightly, confused. "Give me what?" "A party invitation," she replied brightly. "Daniel is throwing me a surprise party." I raised an eyebrow. A surprise party? From the same man who just kissed me without asking? "I was planning to deliver the invitation personally," she continued, still smiling. "But since I’ve run into you, I might as well just tell you now." "When is the party?" I asked, keeping my tone neutral. "This weekend," she answered, her voice light with excitement.

My blood drips onto the parchment as I sit at my kitchen table, staring at the neat script across the thick paper. “You are cordially invited to the engagement celebration of Alpha Victor Blackthorn and Luna-elect Lara Blackthorn.” The words blur before my eyes. My stomach twists so violently that I have to put the invitation down before I tear it in half. I stare at the words in disbelief, pulling my cut finger between my lips. The party is tonight. His and Matteo's. She knocked once before stepping in. Both men turned to look at her, their conversation pausing. "Sorry to interrupt," she said, keeping her voice light as she walked in. "I just wanted to ask something." Lucas leaned back in his chair, watching her with mild curiosity. Matteo stood near the desk, hands behind his back, his usual composed expression in place. Valentina turned to Lucas. "Did you get an invite to the Hope Charity event that's happening tomorrow?"

Lora wanted to leave before Tina noticed them; her body language was strange, and she didn't feel at ease around Harvey. "You were invited to my eighteenth birthday celebration on Saturday night. Luna invited all the females in the hopes that I may find a suitable match." Harvey's remarks seemed to offer Lora optimism since if she had been invited, it meant she had a chance to become the next generation Luna. But it was all a dream. Starting today, I'm making that bitch work overtime until she drops.] I walked past without missing a beat, pretending I hadn't seen a thing. That profile picture looked awfully familiar—like someone I saw every single day. As soon as I turned on my computer, a notification popped up in the group chat—emergency meeting.
