She used tongs to lift the vial from the stand, and carefully added it to the bowl of ingredients that would complete its transformation into the spell component known of as “Dragon’s Blood.” As it mixed, veins of glowing orange and cinder black spread through the liquid, giving it the appearance of hot lava, although if a person were fool enough to stick their finger into the mixture, it would be cool to the touch… before it melted the flesh from the bone and turned the bone to ash.

The boy stirred the mixture diligently. His eyes widened with awe as the contrasting colors blended into a rich, fragrant, deeply restorative salve. "Thank you, Arbiter."

“You say this will work better?” Another voice joined in. “Yes your highness, the first potion is beginning to wane in its effectiveness. Perhaps when she was small it was enough but now we need to consider the long road ahead. This potion is stronger and we pierce her ears with blessed silver hoops and seal them closed where they may not be removed.” “Silver but ..it thought that was toxic to them” The other voice chuckled. “No your majesty, an old wives tale it merely acts as a collar of sorts to suppress the more violent streaks.”

She dipped it deep into the cauldron and scooped up the glowing, crimson potion. With a swift movement, she poured it directly over the decayed skeleton’s skull. Immediately the potion touched the body, the reaction was absolutely terrifying. The skeleton began bubbling hard as the liquid sizzled against the dry bone structure.

No one tells you about that lingering throbbing pain from it.” “Iron?” my eyes went wide, “Hectyr, you need help!” quickly i rushed around to his back and saw a small trail of blood starting to trickle downward on his shirt. Iron won’t heal. It will sap his magic until it kills him. “I’m guessing you’re aware of what iron does to a fae?” He coughed trying to move his other hand to that wound on his back. I nodded but only because my words were finding it difficult to escape my mouth. Shaking my head I tried to clear the muddied panic, “It needs to come out.”
