Then, one by one, dark figures emerged — wolves, their fur as black as coal, eyes glowing red.
“Rogues,” Kael whispered, adjusting his stance. “A lot of them.”
Aria’s heart tightened when she recognized one — a scar running down his muzzle, the same one who had attacked her on the night of her escape.
“You,” she breathed.
The rogue wolf shifted into a human form — tall, battered, his smirk oozing malice. “The cursed Luna returns,” he mocked. “Your kind should have remained buried.”
Kael moved protectively in front of her. “You will regret coming here.”
